Backing Up you Drupal Server (Part 2)

My Server got fucked up (v2)!

A few months (more like plenty of months) ago I wrote an article on how I backed-up my Drupal servers.

That time I mentioned Percona and its awesome hot backup utility (which I still use):

drupal_goto() is evil!

drupal_goto() is evil!

It is not, but almost! The problem with drupal_goto() is not the function itself, the problems are the drupalers (you and me and everyone who codes Drupal) that use it at will.

It is a very VERY dangerous, evil, mind-breaking, heart-breaking function if not used correctly.

Some background:

Backing Up you Drupal Server

My server got fucked up!

It's been almost 10 months since I joined SeeD as a Partner and Development Manager, which means I've had to change my worries: I can't think in number of sites anymore, it is about the number of servers now; at first things were fucked up but Aegir made things a breeze.

Saving node-type settings in D7

Today I needed to port Node Limit to Drupal 7, which was an easy task. Node Limit for D6 is a well written module by Stefan Auditor, which makes tha porting process easier.

Creating pagers in D7

Numbers

I've been working with Drupal for 3 years now (or something like that), and today I learned something I had never done before, but had used a lot: pagers. And all because we are training two new guys in the company (Seed Software), and one of them, not knowing about views yet, decided he wanted to create one.

D7 ajax login, it is that easy!

We were finishing a small site in D7 today at SeeD software and designs included a lightbox for the login form, which was to be submitted via ajax. For a second I cursed my life, cause I just hated doing Ajax in D6, it was possible to do, but it just wasn't pleasant.

Modules should be simple. The D7KISS

D7KISS

It's been 6 months since I joined Seed Software as a Development Manager, and since day one I've been getting more and more involved with the Drupal community, and since day one I've been trying to push as many new development towards using D7 (I just love it), but off course, module availability is a problem, and even when the most popular modules already have a D7 release and most of them are stable, there is always that forgotten module that is stuck in D6 and its last release was back in 2009

My blog has born!

I'm Tiger: Federico Jaramillo Martínez

And lets keep flooding the world with blogs! I want to join the party (quite late, but whatever).

I always wanted to join, but nothing ever happened, until now! I now have my blog and use Twitter (@federicojm) every day!

I'll be posting a lot about Drupal, cause Drupal is what I use to develop, and will post a bit about stuff, cause, well, it would get monotonous otherwise.

Happy reading everyone (and happy blogging for me)
